Many of you have been asking for it & here it is:

PRICKLY PEAR RED FRUIT POWDER!!!

Our top quality powder comes from the red Prickly Pear Fruit which grows on the Nopal cactus.  It is 100% Pure!!!   Although we could have added "fillers" to make the powder less expensive, we wanted to maintain it's purity and full nutritional efficacy. For this reason, there are NO fillers, sugar, or coloring added.  This way you receive top quality value, rich in betalains (antioxidants) that promote a healthy inflammation response, while still savoring the delicious taste of the whole Prickly Pear Fruit.

This is believed to be the highest quality Prickly Pear Fruit powder on the market.  Its crystalline-appearance is the natural color of the red prickly pear fruit at mature harvest.

Dosage Cost Comparison to Prickly Pear Juice:

This is a great alternative to purchasing prickly pear juice because the cost is about 40%-45% less.  For example, the typical bottle of prickly pear juice has 34 dosage servings, and this powder has 60 dosage servings per mylar bag container.)

Prickly Pear Powder also makes a DELICIOUS Prickly Pear Tea.  Mix 2 teaspoons in hot water (I like to add 1/2 tsp of estevia sweetener), and enjoy the delicious flavor while benefiting from the nutritional support, rich in antioxidants (betalains).

This powder can be mixed with any beverage.  Shown below is a picture of the powder mixed into apple juice.)

Other Uses:

Beyond merely taking the recommended dosage amounts, some of our customers have also reported they like to mix the powder with other ingredients for flavorful enhancements.  Here are some of the ideas shared so far:

*  Prickly Pear Salad Vinegarette:  Don’t add too much powder or it will overpower the vinegar flavor.

*  Prickly Pear fruit smoothies.

*  Prickly Pear yogurt.

*  Prickly Pear shakes (add it to vanilla ice cream and milk).

*  Prickly Pear teas. (Use as is or mix with Green tea and chilled with ice.)

*  Prickly Pear added to apple & pineapple juices makes a great blend.

*  Prickly Pear Applesauce.

Dosage Recommendations:

This Prickly Pear Red Fruit Powder is very concentrated in crystaline form.  The serving size is 1 teaspoon of powder (about 4 grams).  There are 60 servings per container, with a net weight of 240 grams (.563 LB).  The dosage directions state to take 1-3 teaspoons daily as a dietary supplement.  However, if your purpose is to create a delicious beverage, then of course you can flavor your beverage with the powder according to your preferred taste.

If you wish to follow the normal dosage amount, mix 2 teaspoons in 1/3 to 1/2 cup of water.  Or if you are mixing it into juice, you may want a full cup of juice.  For example 2 teaspoons in a cup of apple juice makes a delicious juice drink.  You can make a tasty prickly pear tea with 2 teaspoons in one cup of water.  One mylar bag provides a one month supply (of 60 dosages) if you take 2 teaspoons daily.

Prickly Pear Powder is "hygroscopic"

The Prickly Pear Red Fruit powder is "hygroscopic," meaning the powder absorbs moisture. As such when it is exposed to the moisture of the air it does have a tendency to clump together, similar to brown sugar. If this happens to your powder, you can apply pressure to it and it will reform into the powder consistency again.  Although we could have diluted the product with "flow agents" to avoid any possible clumping, we didn't do that because our customers have told us they value the rich, undiluted nutritionally pure quality of this product.

It stores in its bag nicely in a cool dry place, however if you wish to refrigerate it, I'd recommend you store it in a good air tight tupperware dish to minimize any clumping of the powder. Any clumping that may occur from exposure to moisture in the air does not affect the nutritional efficacy.

Prickly Pear Fruit Powder solidifies if left in a heated environment.

When prickly pear powder sits in a heated environment it solidifies into a solid block.  This can happen in the Summer when the post office stores the package in a hot delivery truck or when a customer leaves the package in a heated mail box or car.  If this happens, please be assured the prickly pear product is not damaged nor defective, and still maintains its nutritional effectiveness.  However, to remedy this situation, here is what I do when this has occurred to me:

(1.)  Take a wooden rolling pin (or other similar object) and gently pound on the package to dissolve the contents.  Much of it will go back into powder form with patience and continual tapping.

(2.)  For those smaller chunks that are not dissolved, you can put them into a coffee grinder or blender.  Be careful not to overwhelm your blender with too much at one time.  (I use a Magic Bullet Blender because it is more powerful.)  This puts the rest into powder form.

Note, it would be possible for us to sell a lower quality product mixed with other fillers so that it wouldn't be as hygroscopic or heat sensitive, but we've chosen instead to sell the product that maintains the highest purity for your nutritional benefit.

  Summer update:  The heat and humidity right now make this powder too hard to keep in powder form because it doesn't have chemicals (flow agents) to keep it from hardening.  For those who still want it and don't mind it coming in solid chunks in the Summer season, you can still make a phone order, but it's not listed on the on-line store.  Call 480-357-8200.
